As a whole, we will also look at why we write for children, considering if there is a didactic or even a moral element that is necessary; or if the primary motive is to entertain.
This course will cultivate these practices, show how they grow organically out of a love for reading and writing, and demonstrate how they are skills that are in great demand in a wide range poftfolio creative workplaces. You will attend a weekly three-hour workshop, in which work you produce will be discussed. Learning to write creatively and critically analyse in tandem, you’ll be exposed to a huge variety of literature while you develop your own writing practice.
Full Time Students At the beginning of the Spring term fiction and non-fiction writers will submit a 5,word piece of work. A feature of the module is the attention given to situating these works in their historical and cultural contexts.
